Use strong, consistent boxes
Choose sturdy boxes that close completely. Similar-sized boxes stack safely in the truck, while overloaded or open boxes slow loading and increase the chance of damage.
Pack heavy items in small boxes
Books, tools and canned goods become too heavy in large cartons. Use smaller boxes and fill empty space so items cannot shift. Lighter belongings such as bedding can go in larger boxes.
Label every box clearly
Write the destination room on the top and at least one side. Add “FRAGILE” when appropriate and mark boxes that should be opened first. Clear labels save time at the new home.
Prepare furniture properly
Empty drawers when furniture is heavy, remove loose shelves and place hardware in labelled bags. Movers can blanket-wrap furniture in the truck, but delicate finishes and glass pieces should be discussed beforehand.
Keep important items with you

Ask before packing fuel, propane, paint, chemicals, ammunition, perishable food or pressurized containers. Drain fuel from outdoor equipment and dispose of hazardous materials through an approved facility.
